The stunning Mazda Takeri concept made its world debut today at the Tokyo Motor Show, giving us a taste of the Japanese automaker’s next-generation midsize sedan.
Based on Mazda’s new design language, KODO or the Soul of Motion, the car seats four and puts on the airs of a typically masculine coupe. Its name is even derived from the Japanese word for “male.”
Featuring a full arsenal of SKYACTIV technologies, the Mazda Takeri concept is powered by a 2.2L diesel engine mated to a 6-speed autobox that sends power to the front wheels.
The automaker claims the concept has an impressive range of 1,500 km thanks to the use of the i-stop start/stop technology and the all-new i-ELOOP regenerative braking system as well as the efficiency inherent to diesel mills.
Handling falls to MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link setup in back as well as 20” wheels shod with 245/40 tires.
