4. Affordable automatic transmission
After a gruelling time during WWII and post-war, Chevrolet picked up its socks and continued in the great American automotive game. In 1950, Chevy introduced the Powerglide, the very first automatic transmission on an affordable vehicle. While journalists (naturally) had a hard time accepting this newfangled way of driving with only one foot, the public were delighted in the ease of the Chevy automatic.
