There was a time when GM used to offer turbodiesel power on board its big, long SUVs. This time, for the new crop of big boys from the three brands, the American giant's mastodons can be ordered with the same 6-cylinder inline engine as found in the 1500 pickup trucks. This strategy requires customers to fork over bigger outlays initially, but the greater fuel economy means the turbodiesel engine could pay off in the long run.
