2019 RAM 1500
While RAM hasn’t gone the full aluminum route as Ford has with its F-150, some parts of the new 2019 RAM 1500 are constructed of the material while others are fashioned from high-grade steel to reduce overall weight by as much as 225 pounds. Power comes from a couple of familiar faces – a 3.6L Pentastar V6 and HEMI V8, likely with an EcoDiesel six on the way – but less familiar is the addition of “eTorque”, which uses electricity to allow auto start/stop, brake regeneration and quick hits of torque assist. Equally unfamiliar is the face; two new grille designs are available for standard trucks, while a butchier third design is reserved for the Rebel version. All three styles are more aerodynamic than previous. Inside, big changes include reclining second-row seats on four-door models as well as the latest application of Uconnect infotainment. With its 12-inch touchscreen, it’s also the largest we’ve seen yet.
