Those who know me will recall that I once owned a 1990 Toyota Cressida. That car was famously in a terrible state when I rescued it; at the time it was already some 25 years old. That’s, what, 140 in human years? Anyways, this is a Toyota, and so when I owned it the old wreck from another era ran as well as it did in its early days.

In its day, the Toyota Cressida filled the same premium role in the brand’s lineup as the Avalon would later on, and it did so for over a decade. It was a Lexus before the Lexus luxury division ever existed. Equipped with an indestructible inline 6-cylinder engine and even a manual transmission in some iterations, the sedan would already be a great catch to place in my garage, especially at a time when examples of the car are starting to gain in value. But a wagon version would be even more incredible, if only to take advantage of the pair of windshield wipers at the rear, a particular feature of this generation of the model.
