While the Porsche 959 painted in the classic blue, gold and red Rothman’s livery is likely best remembered as a rally car on the Paris-Dakar rally, did you know it was a sports racing car, too? Designated “961”, it was the first-ever AWD car to race at Le Mans. Not only that, it was driven to a class victory and seventh-overall finish.

Speaking of rally cars…

While the 959 didn’t only race rally, it also wasn’t the only Porsche to rally race. As seen here, everything from the 911 to front-engined 924 competed at one time or another.
