5 – 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Concept

And as you clearly see in this photo, that first F-88 prototype was in fact an Oldsmobile conception of what the Chevrolet Corvette could have been like if it had birthed a close cousin at the more-upscale Oldsmobile brand. I had occasion to photograph and see up close this creation in an automotive museum in Colorado. Stay tuned on Auto123 in the coming days as I’ll have a full history of this interesting model.

6 – 1963 Oldsmobile J-TR Concept

Based on the production model of the 1963 F-85 convertible, this soft-top made its initial appearance at the Chicago auto show that same year. The model is not widely known, but it’s interesting to note that in the 60s, design studies were now based largely on existing models. The Motorama show was cancelled after 1961, and with it went the truly unique concept models the company had been producing.
