9 – 1986 Oldsmobile Incas Concept
The Incas was a creation of the Italdesign studio and was inspired by another concept, the Ford Maya from 1984. Under the hood of the Incas sat a version of the famed Quad4 engine Oldsmobile was using in its products at the time. Clearly, in this case we’re talking about a design study only, but it does show how daring and innovative Oldsmobile could still be.
Look at its impressive fenestration and you can almost feel the hothouse environment the interior must have been. As for access, that was done via an immense bubble at the front and butterfly doors at the back.
Inside, the dashboard adopted a futuristic style (as envisioned in the 80s), and it featured an abundance of digital dials. Note that on the steering wheels were buttons for changing gears.
