For a while, it looked like Subaru's second attempt at the electrified segment would quickly disappear. It didn't. The Subaru Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid is still in the brand's catalog. Equipped with a battery and an electric motor, this Crosstrek PHEV is just as capable of venturing far off-road as its regular sibling
Where it falls short of many competitors, however, is in terms of electric range, delivering a measly 27 km before the engine has to take back over. Still, the Crosstrek PHEV is the only plug-in hybrid crossover on the market with a 4-cylinder flat engine. So there.
