17 – 1960 New-Map Solyto
New-Map products caused a sensation from the moment they appeared in 1938. The Second World War slowed their momentum, of course, but after the war, the popularity of the small cars produced by the company continued to grow.
New-Map produced scooters as well as small trucks for various purposes, such as the one pictured here, built primarily for camping. It’s 4.5 feet long and wide and weighs only 330 lb. As for the name Solyto, it comes from the fact that the vehicles were built at the sheet metal plant belonging to the New-Map company, which went under the name Société Lyonnaise de Tôlerie.
