Toyota wants to get rid of gasoline-only cars by 2050 to focus on hybrids and all-electric models including fuel-cell units, according to an article published by La Presse . This way, the Japanese auto giant plans to reduce CO2 emissions by 90% and help fight global warming.
This bold strategy involves selling 1.5 million hybrids and 30,000 fuel-cell cars annually starting in 2020. Also, Toyota will revise and improve its production techniques, allowing the brand new Mexican plant – set to open in 2019 – to emit 40% less CO2 than other facilities did in 2001.
