Toyota to sell fewer vehicles in 2011

For the third year in a row, Toyota’s global vehicle forecast won’t push the 8 million mark. The Japanese giant will be producing 7.8 million units for 2011, 200,000 less than originally planned.

Toyota is taking one blow after another, it seems. Still reeling from the effects of the wave of recalls for sticking accelerator pedals in the US, the automaker has also been having trouble selling its products in its native Japan, after a government decision to cut the incentive program for the purchase of fuel-efficient vehicles .
