It was as expected. The Daytona 500 was run very cautiously until the very last laps. That it when things heated up. As Tony Stewart (Camry No 20), Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) and Dale Earnhardt (Chevy No 88) made the show, most other drivers followed carefully. But on the very last lap, the Roger Penske Dodge boys powered to the front!
As Stewart was going for a win, Ryan Newman (Dodge No 12) and Kurt Busch (Dodge No 2 who started dead last) passed the leaders to finish the race first and second. Stewart finished third, Kyle Busch fourth, Dale Earnhardt ninth while pole sitter Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) ended up 27th while his team mate Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24) finished 39th.
