The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is GM's new entry in the growing subcompact car segment. Built in America, the Sonic is available in sedan and five-door hatchback body styles as well as several trim levels.

Two engines are offered; LS and LT models get a base 1.8L four-cylinder that produces 138 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque, while the LTZ benefits from a turbocharged 1.4L unit that develops 138 hp and 148 lb-ft. The 2013 model year will also mark the arrival of the hotter, performance-oriented Sonic RS; it will boast more aggressive styling, 17" alloys, a lowered and stiffened suspension as well as the turbo engine with a retuned sport exhaust system.
