Video: The importance of chassis set-up in racing

By ,

Anyone who wants to get ahead in a race and ideally stay there to capture victory needs optimum control of his car. That's provided by the chassis suspension -- with extreme technical challenges to be mastered, as a race car is constantly moving, continually changing load and centre of gravity.

Mastering chassis behavior is one of the key factors in motorport. This video explains how a correct chassis set-up will make the car be more stable in the corners.

Springs and shock absorbers play a key role. They ensure that wherever possible the wheels are constantly pressed onto the ground, thus producing a high level of grip.

Race shock absorbers work far faster than the standard versions. In combination with the appropriate springs, they maintain optimum contact patch of the tires with the road.
