Wolfsburg / Hanover - Volkswagen remains on course for becoming the world’s most innovative and environmentally-friendly automaker. “Think Blue.” is an approach that goes beyond purely technical or product-related aspects. At its exhibition stand, Volkswagen is presenting a spectrum of sustainable solutions that highlight the company’s responsible attitude and actions. From resource-efficient and environmentally-friendly production through energy-efficient vehicles to new sustainable employment fields – the exhibition actively appeals to the environmental awareness of visitors to Hannover Messe and provides food for thought.

Vehicle production also reflects the systematic implementation of the “Think Blue.” leitmotif. Taking the production process for a Polo BlueMotion car as an example, a media robot explains the environmentally-efficient and advanced technologies used in Volkswagen’s production processes. An innovative color change paint spray system, for example, demonstrates the economic and ecological savings potential during the painting process.

Volkswagen has brought together the best environmental technologies of the present day in “BlueMotionTechnologies”. Some of these are on show in Hanover. They include the new generation of the best-selling Sharan presented in March. The Volkswagen van, which features rear sliding doors for the first time, has a fuel efficiency unequalled by all other vans in this class, consuming just 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers (Sharan 2.0 TDI, 140 PS). Another highlight in Hanover is the Touareg Hybrid. Unveiled only a few weeks ago, this is currently the only hybrid SUV built by a German automaker available in Europe (V6 TSI plus e-motor).

Volkswagen will also be giving visitors a foretaste of efficient technologies and concepts for sustainable mobility in the future at Hannover Messe. Attention centers on the L1 concept. Powered by a high-tech TDI and e-motor, this extremely aerodynamic (cd 0.195!) full hybrid is intended to become the most fuel-efficient automobile in the world with combined fuel consumption of just 1.38 liters of diesel.

Anyone interested in career prospects with Europe’s largest automaker can also find out more at Hannover Messe. Volkswagen’s HR marketing team is looking forward to face-to-face exchanges at the Volkswagen stand.

Hannover Messe is one of the world’s leading technology trade fairs. This year, some 4,800 exhibitors from 64 countries will be showcasing their products and know-how at the exhibition which covers 155,000 square meters. The Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands can be found at Stand A04 in Hall 15.
