When it comes to hybrid-oriented automakers, the names of Toyota, Honda and Ford usually spring to mind. However, Volkswagen could soon become a hybrid staple, too.
President and CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed to Auto Motor und Sport that the automaker plans to offer a hybrid variant of every model they produce.

EV technology is not yet ready for the prime time, Winterkorn said, but technological advancements such as lithium-air batteries, due around 2025, might change the game. With four to five times the energy density of existing lithium-ion batteries, they could allow an EV to travel up to 800 kilometres on a single charge.
