WRC: Jari-Matti Latvala retires, Sebastien Ogier takes the lead

By ,

Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Fiesta), who was dominant in Rally Argentina, was forced to retire after a broken suspension, which allowed Sébastien Ogier (Citroën DS3) to move up to first place.

The Finn, who had a rocky start of the rally on Friday, suffered a suspension failure in ESS13. After he tried to fix his car, he finally retire in the next stage, which was the last one of the day.

Petter Solberg (Citroën DS3) could not benefit Latvala’s problems, as the driver from Norway suffered power steering problems earlier, and lost about one minute. That put Sébastien Ogier (Citroen DS3) in the lead.

The Frenchman seems on his way to the victory, as he stands 43,7 seconds ahead second work Ford Fiesta driven by Mikko Hirvonen. The Finn is only four seconds ahead of Sébastien Loeb (Citroen DS3) who lost any chance of win on Friday after he had a one minute penalty for having check too early at the mid day parc.

Petter Solberg dropped down to 4th, just ahead Mads Ostberg’s Ford Fiesta Stobart.
