WRC: Mikko Hirvonen joins Citroen Racing for 2012

After weeks of speculation, its now official . Finland's Mikko Hirvonen will join Citroen Racing for the two next seasons of the FIA World Rally Championship.

In 2012 and 2013, Sebastien Loeb’s and Daniel Elena’s teammates will be Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen. The Finns, runners-up in the 2009 and 2011 World Rally Championship, have scored 14 victories and 51 podium finishes in 124 starts in the WRC.

Not a word has been said about Ogier's future in rallying. He may take the place of Hirvonen at Ford or he may join Volkswagen. However, the WRC programme of the German car manufacturer is only scheduled to begin in 2013.

Experts say that Sebastien Loeb will continue to compete in the World Rally Championship for one year or two seasons before he definitely switches to road racing.
