WRC: Sébastien Loeb wins a 59th Rally, Kimi Räikkönen a first stage

Sébastien Loeb won a 59th WRC victory Sunday in Germany when he got the best of Citroën teammates Dani Sordo and Junior Team's Sébastien Ogier .

Loeb won two more stages Sunday, claiming nine out of 19 in Rally Deutschland . The six-time champion now has a 58 points lead over Ogier in the standings.

The forfeit of Mikko Hirvonen following a broken gearbox during the second stage of the day means Sordo is now fifth in the standing, thanks to a third podium this season.

Sordo, who changed co-driver since last rally, teamed up with Spanish driver Diego Vallejo this week-end.

“I am really happy how it has gone with Diego for our first time together,” said Sordo. “Today was about not making any mistakes and keeping my position, which is very important for Citroen and the manufacturers’ championship.”

Sébastien Ogier completed the all-Citroën podium. He managed to pass Jari-Matti Latvala who had settled for third since Friday.

Petter Solberg took the fifth place of this rally on board of his C4. A slipping clutch made the penultimate stage difficult for him.

The last stage of the day was won by Formula 1 Champion Kimi Räikkönen. It was a first stage victory for the Finn. Matthew Wilson nevertheless got the best of him with a sixth place finish. Räikkönen settled for seventh overall.
