WRC: Video of Ken Block testing his new toy, a Ford Focus RS WRC

Immediately after having clinched his fifth 100 Acre Woods Rally, American Ken Block and his team flew to Mexico, to prepare for their first World Rally Championship event driving a Ford Focus RS WRC.

Mexico is the first of seven WRC rounds Ken Block will tackle this year.

X-Games maestro Block only had one freezing/muddy day to test out his new Monster WRC Ford Focus, a car vastly different from the Fiesta he drives in the America Rally series.

The test took place in Greystoke Forest, near the M-Sport headquarters in Cumbria, England, two weeks ago. In the morning, the drivers were greeted with snow-covered roads and below freezing temperatures. Not exactly ideal conditions for Mexico testing!

The day was shaping up to be a repeat of a previously aborted test that was snowed out, but the midday sun came out to melt the ice and frost, allowing the team to successfully put in a much needed 170km of seat time before their inaugural WRC Event.

"This weekend in Mexico I'll be up against the greatest rally drivers on earth and, believe me, I will be truly humbled because I am basically a novice in the WRC," Block admitted.

"I'm on a good development process to get to the top level and it's going to take a while but I'm going to do my best. It's going to be an incredible experience."
