By ,

A new constructor may make its WTCC debuts next season, as Ford is preparing its arrival with a Ford Focus 1.6 liters turbo.

Jost Capito, director of Ford Global Motorsport Business Development, Mike Earle, Arena Motorsport’s team manager, and Paul Hui, FRD Motorsport’s team manager, visited the WTCC paddock in Donington last weekend.

The Arena Motorsport and FRD teams run S2000 Ford Focus cars in the British and Chinese touring car championships.

They are preparing their arrival in the WTCC next season, with the backing of Moutune Racing Engines that will develop a 1.6 liter turbo engine.

The first tests of the new car are scheduled for October.
