New e-tron Sportback concept to enter production in 2019

Hot on the heels of the I.D. Crozz from parent company Volkswagen, Audi unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2017 its own electric crossover concept with the shape of a 4-door coupe. It’s called Audi e-tron Sportback and it will hit the road in 2019, a year after the first all-electric Audi e-tron model.

The three electric motors (one in front, two in the rear) combine to generate 429 horsepower—or 496 with the overboost function. The lithium-ion battery provides a range of more than 500 kilometres. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes just 4.5 seconds.

Inside, the layout is purposely light and clean, while still ensuring great functionality. As a matter of fact, you’ll find several touch-sensitive panels on board, from the centre console all the way to the door panels.

As for exterior styling, the digitally controlled Matrix LED headlights and taillights are the most striking feature. Matrix projectors literally make their mark on the road ahead, turning light into a versatile, dynamic channel of communication with the surroundings. Small cameras replace the side mirrors. The massive 23” wheels, obviously, won’t make it to production.
