Battle ready and looking for a fight, Audi's TT RS was just confirmed for its world launch at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Initial teaser photos show typical TT styling elements alongside RS4 inspired wheels, "RS" badged brake calipers, slotted rotors and enlarged front-end duct work.

From the back, TT RS showcases large oval-tipped exhaust outlets, a splitter, fixed spoiler and a honeycomb-patterned bumper valence.

Amusing word-play with the 'TT' or 'TTS' name isn't likely to be a part of the TT RS ownership experience, but the new 2.5 liter turbo engine under the hood should more than compensate. Official output isn't yet known, though Audi says the turbo-five will crank out well over 300 horsepower to enable explosive acceleration and fantastic sound effects. Maybe it'll even have an exhaust-loudening 'sport' button, a la RS4.

In fact, the folks in Ingolstadt were kind enough to tease us with a recording of the TT RS's engine, and it sounds magnificent. A distinctively European exhaust yelp is accented by turbine and wastegate sound effects throughout acceleration and gear shifts.

Audi promises 0-100kmh in 'nowhere near' 5 seconds, as well as a 250 km/h top speed. Naturally, Quattro AWD teams up with a sophisticated chassis and lightweight body to further optimize performance. Sounds like the updated Porsche Cayman S better watch its back.

The Geneva Motor Show opens to the public on March 5th.
