BMW confirmed earlier this month the return of the 8 Series towards the end of 2018 and released a first teaser image of the future coupe’s silhouette. Today, at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy, the German automaker officially unveiled its concept version, and we’ve got more detailed info for you right here.
“The number 8 has always represented the pinnacle of sports performance and exclusivity at BMW,” said Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. “The forthcoming BMW 8 Series Coupe will demonstrate that razor-sharp dynamics and modern luxury can go hand-in-hand. This will be the next model in the expansion of our luxury-car offering and will raise the benchmark for coupes in the segment.”
The BMW 8 Series will be based on the company’s new 7 Series sedan; a convertible version is expected to be introduced in 2019. The regular and open-top versions of the model will be part of what BMW promises is the largest onslaught of new products in its history.
