At today’s Annual General Meeting of BMW AG, the group’s Chairman of the Board of Harald Krüger, unveiled an initial design concept for the BMW iNEXT. The pure-electric BMW iNEXT is expected to be production-ready by 2021. The company’s new technology flagship incorporates all major strategic areas of innovation in a road-ready vehicle.

For the first time, we are combining all key technologies for future mobility in one vehicle. The iNEXT is fully electric, fully connected and also offers highly automated driving…. Later this year, we will be presenting the BMW iNEXT as a Vision Vehicle.”

The first sketch reveals a crossover-type vehicle with a sleek, aerodynamic roofline. It will be developed in tandem with the i4 electric large sedan concept first seen in Frankfurt in 2017.
Both iNext and the i4 are part of BMW’s ambitious plan to offer consumers 25 electric-powered vehicles by 2025, 12 of them all-electric.
Krüger explained that going forward, all fully electric BMW models introduced would carry the i designation.
BMW aims to give its iNext crossover a range of 700 km, using its fifth-generation battery technology, and fit it with semi-autonomous driving capability.
