Go small, live big, Ford says

On the eve of the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford finally jumped on the sub-compact SUV bandwagon in North America by introducing the new EcoSport. It’s said to be a fun, capable, and connected vehicle in a practical package.

Already sold in other markets around the world, the Blue Oval claims it gives drivers the freedom and versatility to go small and live big.

“More people are choosing to spend their time and money sharing experiences with friends and family instead of buying more stuff,” said Chantel Lenard, ‎executive director, Ford U.S. marketing. “EcoSport fits perfectly into this growing lifestyle. It’s our smallest SUV, packed with features and personality.”

On the menu: ten exterior colours, seven ambient lighting options, and four trim levels—S, SE, SES, and Titanium. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the Ford EcoSport also offers the choice of a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost or a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, the latter coming standard with the automaker’s intelligent all-wheel drive system.

As far as technologies are concerned, look for SYNC 3 featuring a high-resolution 8” touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A 675W B&O Play sound system (exclusive to Ford) is optionally available, along with HD radio and satellite radio.

Elsewhere, as many as 30 stowage pockets, bins, and hooks make efficient use of every interior inch.

Be patient, though: The all-new Ford EcoSport will start arriving at dealerships in early 2018 only.
