Smart phones are so 2011. Soon, you will be able to buy smart tires. German engineers are working for you.

They are currently developing a tire that can adapt to the different weather conditions. Even while on the move.

The revolutionary concept was introduced to the world at the Hanover Fair, held in Germany April 23-27. Detlef Riemer, one of the leading experts on the project, says his tire will be equipped with different sensors monitoring the road surface.

According to whether it is dry, wet or snowy, the tire will then adapt in width.

Therefore drivers would be dispensed of buying different tires for the different seasons. A single set could do the job, automatically. The research is still ongoing, but Riemer confirmed that he had already patented the invention, "just in case".

So the only thing left to do is to wait and see what the Canadian government has to say about it…
