Korean automaker Hyundai will unveil its i-Blue fuel-cell electric vehicle at the upcoming Frankfurt International Motor Show, which kicks off on September 13. This new hydrogen-powered, zero-emission concept was developed at Hyundai's Design and Technical Center in Chiba, Japan. It incorporates the company's third-generation fuel cell technology.

Unlike its predecessors which were built on SUV platforms, the i-Blue features a new 2+2 crossover utility vehicle (CUV) body type. For Hyundai, it's a major step forward. The engineering team has successfully designed a more compact fuel-cell vehicle, while still delivering the safety, comfort, convenience and driving range of a traditional, internal combustion engine vehicle.

Hyundai, which employs over 68,000 people worldwide and sells vehicles in 193 countries through some 5,000 dealerships, said it is making tremendous efforts to make mass production of hydrogen-powered fuel-cell vehicles a reality in the next decade.
