The Kia Niro concept was introduced at the 2016 Canadian International Auto Show just a few minutes after its world premiere in Chicago.
The Korean automaker describes Niro as a no-compromise vehicle that combines driving enjoyment with eye-catching design, functional utility and hybrid efficiency, representing the perfect balance for today’s consumers.
Production is scheduled to begin around the end of 2016. Niro is the first Kia to make use of an all-new, dedicated eco-car platform and is an important next step on the path to nearly tripling the brand’s global green car family by 2020. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is due to be added to the car’s lineup later in its life cycle.
Also on display at the 2016 Canadian International Auto Show is the next-generation Kia Sportage, which previously appeared in Los Angeles and Montreal.
