Swedish supercar manufacturer has announced it will soon start building the first of its cars to be fully federalized and street-legal in the United States. The Agera RS is an evolution of Koenigsegg’s Agera R supercar, and it will deliver a staggering 1,160 HP with its 5.0L V8 engine propelled by pump gas, while weighing a svelte 3,075 lbs.

The carmaker plans to build 25 units of the Agera RS in all to cover the global market. For a small manufacturer like Koenigsegg – the company has made roughly 100 cars over a two-decade span – the challenge of meeting stringent American criteria for being declared street-legal is a long and complex one, but an essential one nonetheless. There are currently a handful of Koenigseggs cars in the U.S., but none are wholly compliant with street-legal regulations.

The carmaker also announced that once the Agera RS assembly run is completed, it will follow up with construction of the Regera model, of which 80 will be built for the global market.
