17 seconds to open-air bliss

Lamborghini introduced the rear-wheel drive Huracán LP 580-2 Spyder yesterday at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. It will be priced between the RWD and AWD coupe models and complete the core Huracán product range when it goes on sale early in 2017.

The most important specs, of course, are the 580 horsepower generated by the naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine which, combined with a dry weight of just 1,509 kg, results in a weight-to-power ratio of 2.6 kg/hp. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 3.6 seconds, while top speed is rated at 319 km/h.

As for styling, the Lamborghini Huracán Spyder with RWD features a newly designed front and rear with a dynamic but more aggressive look setting it apart from the AWD version. The lightweight soft top opens and closes in just 17 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and is efficiently stowed to maintain the Spyder’s perfect centre of gravity.
