Subaru Canada held the North American premiere of the Subaru VIZIV 2 concept today at the 2015 Montreal Auto Show. The model first appeared at the Geneva Auto Show in March of last year.

"VIZIV" is a coined word inspired by the phrase "Vision for Innovation" to express Subaru's future vision of innovation and the direction of the brand. Compared to the VIZIV's 2-door body, VIZIV 2 employs a 4-door body which achieves a sporty cabin with seating for four.

Motivation comes from a 1.6L flat-4 turbocharged engine with direct injection mated to a high-torque-compatible Lineartronic CVT, plus one front motor and two rear motors. The components for this plug-in hybrid system, such as the high-voltage battery, are installed while maintaining Subaru's unique Symmetrical AWD (All-Wheel Drive) layout.

Outside, the Subaru VIZIV 2 sports an hexagonal grille and large circular lights that emphasize the image of an active crossover. The core hexagonal shape of the body is repeated again in the rear. The combination lights make the rear feel wider, and the strong fenders impress a sense of stability in their stance.

Furthering the technology envelope, the VIZIV 2 features a next-generation EyeSight system with stereo cameras that can detect emerging traffic conditions. The revolutionary system combines with 360-degree sensing for autonomous driving.
