Having just returned from the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, it's time for me to give you my own quick run down.

Here are a just a few of my personal thoughts.

Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak accepts the award for the Saturn Aura
A few people gasped when the Saturn Aura won the Car of the Year award. I actually tested that vehicle a few weeks ago, therefore I wasn't that surprised.

Chrysler put on a phenomenal product launch which included an amazing Bongo drum performance during which they presented their Chrysler Nassau and Jeep Trailhawk concepts. If they don't build them, I'm taking Daimler-Chrysler off my Christmas card list.

Toyota had an off-road simulator setup that used an actual FJ Cruiser... cool!

GM proved with their Camaro that unlike my aunt on holiday in Spain, some things can look even better topless!

Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept
If the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept is the car of the future...I just hope that it's the near future!

Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati showcased their beautiful Italian models including... some beautiful female models. Personally, I think that the latter were a little OTT (over the top) and I tend to think that the female visitors might agree with me on that one.

The Audi R8 is just pure and simply WOW!

The Concepts are always good for a laugh. Some look like possible new models, others...well, they're just plain weird aren't they? I actually saw one which looked more like a bathroom enclosure than a car! I see it this way...show me a vehicle that I can believe in and I'll get excited, but don't show me something out of a comic book, I'm not that into Sci-Fi!

Chang Feng Cheetah C1
Ford...they've teamed up will Bill Gates. He explained that this new technology would be 'fully upgradeable"...you can make your own mind up on that one!

The North American manufacturers seem to be worried about the new Chinese vehicles coming in. Now, I like Chinese, in fact, that's one of my favorite Monty Python's songs. I enjoy nothing better than sitting in front of the television with 4 or 5 boxes of Chinese goodies in front of me, but their cars? Honest! I've seen better looking warts!
