Nissan unveiled two new Intelligent Mobility prototypes this week in Rio de Janeiro, right before the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Olympics.

The BladeGlider, a futuristic concept that’s seen numerous versions since 2013, is a fully electric sports car capable of 190km/h top speeds and 0-100km/h acceleration in less than five seconds.

Two Nissan BladeGliders can be found in Rio: One will be on static display, while the second will be offering dynamic rides to media and VIPs.

Meanwhile, the Solid Oxide Fuel-Cell (SOFC)-powered prototype, which runs on bio-ethanol electric power and has a cruising range in excess of 600 kilometres, is based on the Nissan e-NV200, the company's all-electric light commercial vehicle. It offers low operational costs equivalent to an EV, but with the driving range of a gasoline-powered vehicle.

Testing will soon begin in Brazil.
