The recall campaign takes effect on June 20

The Canadian division of the FCA Group (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is recalling nearly 39,000 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a problem with the passenger-side airbag. An error occurring inside the airbag could prevent the airbag from deploying in the event of a collision.

To fix the issue, Ram will first ask owners to visit their dealership, which will inspect the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If the component is found to be defective, it will be replaced, and if not it will be updated.

In addition to the Canadian trucks, the recall affects some 296,000 models in the U.S., 1,817 in Mexico and another 6,154 outside of North America.

Note that Ram 1500 Classic trucks are not included in the recall, as these are of the older generation of the model.

The recall campaign takes effect on June 20. Ram owners can check online or by phone directly with FCA at 1-800-465-2001 to see if their vehicle is subject to the recall.
