Acura debuts 2009 TSX in Vancouver

Bigger and better is always the goal to achieve when a model is redesigned, and it can be applied to Acura's new TSX.

Compared with the outgoing model, the 2009 is longer and wider, and rides on a longer wheelbase. Acura claims a stiffer body structure and underbody aerodynamic enhancements. In general, the shape of the TSX remains familiar.

The car is still powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, teamed up with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic with manual mode. The revised engine gets a slight decrease in power, from 205 to 201, but torque increases from 164 to 172 lb-ft. The numbers may seem insignificant, but low-range and mid-range power is much improved for better performance. The automatic transmission gets wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Like with the current-generation car, the 2009 TSX gets a host of standard features, including a sunroof, power front seats, a 7-speaker stereo and Bluetooth hands-free cell phone connectivity. A Premium package includes leather seats, xenon headlights, fog lamps, XM radio and a USB port for the stereo. A Technology package features an upgraded sound system, navigation with voice recognition and a backup camera.

The new TSX will be on sale this fall.
