Drivers of the Canadian Touring Championship were racing at Calabogie Motorsports Park last weekend. Teammates Étienne Borgeat and Greg Pootmans successively took the highest spot of the podium.
Borgeat won over Pootmans Saturday, before having to concede victory to his teammate on Sunday due to a sick transmission. Paul Dalla Lana completed the podium Saturday as title contender Andrew Wojteczko saw his chances of victory vanish with a blown engine. Starting very last Sunday, Wojteczko was nevertheless able to come back all the way to third place finish, a gain of no less than 16 places. Second Sunday was rookie Alex Healy who owns his first podium in the series. As for another title contender, Nick Wittmer from Montreal, the driver was lucky enough to secure fourth place on Saturday, but had to forget any idea of a good result as a punctured tire made him lose one complete lap over the leaders. In the Touring class, Anthony Rapone won both events, Auto123.com’s Nigel Heron and Scott Nicol sharing the two places of the podium left. Nicol finished second on Saturday, leaving third to Heron. The pair exchanged the honours on Sunday. As for Touring title contender Alain Lauzière, he finished fourth and fifth respectively this past week-end. The series return in two weeks, in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, on August 14 to 16.
