Construction continues at new Moscow RacewayDespite the cold winter, construction continues at the new Russian motorsport venue, the Moscow Raceway.
According to reports posted on the track's official web site, the first layer of asphalt has been laid down on the entire Grand Prix configuration of the race track. According to the design of Hermann Tilke, the track will receive three layers of asphalt.
The erection of the pit building has been completed. Construction of the medical centre, the pit wall and other smaller buildings continues. The cabling of the entire race track is finished. The guardrails and the FIA fences are being installed.
The Grand Prix track is 4.070 km long, features a change of elevation of 22 metres, and the width of the track varies between 12 and 21 metres. The track should be opened by a round of the World Series by Renault, July 14 and 15, 2012. A Superbike motorcycle event is scheduled for August 26. The track hopes to secure a round of the DTM series in the near future.
