Former Indy 500 winners and Penske Racing’s teammates Helio Castroneves and Juan Pablo Montoya are amongst the favourites to win the 2015 Indianapolis 500.
However, Scott Dixon of the Ganassi team will lead off the field of 33 this weekend after winning pole position during qualifying last Sunday with a four-lap average speed of 226.760 miles per hour. Hinchcliffe is improving and remains in stable condition following surgery May 18 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for an injury to his pelvic area and upper left thigh suffered in a practice crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier in the day.
