INDYCAR announced the following post-event infractions from the Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana, the Verizon IndyCar Series race held April 10-12 at NOLA Motorsports Park.
Officials have penalized driver Andretti Autosport’s driver Ryan Hunter-Reay for violating Rule 9.3.3 (avoidable contact). Hunter-Reay was penalized three points in the drivers’ point standings and placed on probation for three races. Late in the Louisiana race, Simon Pagenaud, Hunter-Reay and Sebastien Bourdais went three-wide through a corner, with Hunter-Reay forcing Pagenaud into the grass. Pagenaud’s uncontrolled car came back onto the track, slamming into Hunter-Reay and Bourdais’s machines. "I don't know where I was supposed to go," Hunter-Reay said in defense. "What am I going to do? (Pagenaud) stuck his nose in there; there's no more room." However, race footage from Grabham Rahal’s car seemed to show a gap large enough between Bourdais and Hunter-Reay.
