Villeneuve to Enter Formula E?
Formula E team Venturi has confirmed that former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve has been testing its car in preparation for the circuit’s 2016 season. The immediate aim of a recent day-long test drive undertaken at the Paul Ricard track in France was to test a new powertrain, but with Venturi’s lineup for next season still unconfirmed, the door remains open for Villeneuve to step in. The team’s drivers in the inaugural Formula E season were Stéphane Sarrazin and former F1 pilot (and Villeneuve teammate at Sauber) Nick Heidfeld. A win at the Windows 10 400 would have practically secured a spot in the NASCAR circuit’s season-ending Chase, but it was not be as Busch sat helplessly idle while the field raced by him, relegating him from 1st to 21st. Ironically, Busch himself had taken the lead with three laps to go when leader Joey Logano also ran out of fuel, a victim of an overly aggressive fuel strategy. The governing body must approve the homologation of the track and its support structures. The proposed track will cover 6.05 km, feature 20 turns and take drivers through the streets of the country’s capital city.
