Hargrove Sweeps GT3 Races at Trois-Rivières
This past weekend’s Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières event saw Scott Hargrove sweep both Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge races, with two hard-fought victories that the pilot was quick to dedicate to his birthday-celebrating father back home in Surrey, B.C.. Hargrove also took pains to thank his Mark Motors teammates for their hard work in bringing him across the finish line in top position in both Round 7 and 8 of the Michelin-sponsored event.
Surprise Rahal Win at Mid-Ohio Tightens Points Race
Graham Rahal came from 13th place on the grid to earn a hotly contested victory in the Verizon IndyCar championship this past weekend in Ohio. The victory, Rahal’s second of 2015 and third of his career, allowed him to close to within 9 points of leader Juan Montoya with the Pocono 500 looming in two weeks. Justin Wilson took second place to give Honda the top two positions on the podium, this despite Chevrolet having taken the top 6 places on the grid to start the race.
Who Let the Dogs Out? Brazil Stock Car Qualifying Disrupted
Qualifying runs for a Brazilian stock car event in Curitiba were disrupted when several dogs ran out onto the track while cars were running at speed. Track employees had reportedly been taking care of the dogs, who escaped from their enclosure. No drivers or dogs were hurt during the incident. The race itself was also eventful, with an explosive crash marring the start following a mechanical failure by Thiago Camilo, and another on-track incident involving a boy running across the track in front of oncoming cars. No one was hurt in that incident either.
Busch Focused on Chase, Will Skip Xfinity Race
Kyle Busch will be taking a pass on this upcoming weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity race at Watkins Glen to focus on the Sprint Cup race at the same track. Busch currently sits 13 points out of the last qualifying spot for the year-end Chase, and his ongoing recovery from his early-season injuries are obliging him to preserve his energies for that Chase quest. Busch will be replaced by Boris Said.
