J'ai vu un américain dans une Kia Sedona qui appartenait à Thrifty. Alors ça doit pas être si mauvais que ça au point de vue de la fiabilité contrairement à ce que beaucoup disent à propos de Kia et des coréennes en général...

Je me suis assis dans une Sedona la semaine derniere. C'est une tres beau vehicule (pour une minivan).

Bon rapport qualite-prix avec une bonne garantie en soutient. Attention... les coreens s'en viennent :-)...

Pas fort ça Saïgon. OK, la Sedona n'est pas parfaite, mais comme je le mentionnais dans une autre discussion, sur le même site ( http://www.hwysafety.org/vehicle_ratings/ce/html/summary_passvans.htm ) on peut voir qu'il s'en tire pas trop mal dans le crash test.
Que dire du Chevrolet Venture par exemple, bon dernier ? Qu'on a même pas pour son argent ?

Où KIA arrive bon dernier, de loin, mais ce sont des modèles d'il y a 2 ans.

Pas touche. Dans un monde de Voyager/ MPV/ Odyssey/ Windstar/ Sienna, il me semble qu'il y a assez de choix abordables sans devoir prendre des risques inutiles. Sans compter que c'est un mammouth à 4800lbs, presque 800 de plus que la moyenne de cette classe. Pour être vraiment un "deal", faudrait qu'elle soit encore moins chère.

NHTSA Bestows Highest Rating on New Minivan
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 30, 2002 –– The new Kia Sedona minivan has earned the federal government’s highest safety rating for the driver and front- and rear-seat passengers in both frontal and side impact crash tests, according to information released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Sedona received a five-star rating in both frontal and side impact crash tests, an achievement equaled by only one other 2002 model-year minivan.

The frontal and side crash tests are part of NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that provides consumers with safety information about the two most dangerous injury-causing crashes.

NHTSA tested an all-new 2002 Kia Sedona LX in a 35-mph frontal impact into a fixed barrier, which is equivalent to a head-on collision between two similar vehicles each moving at 35 mph. In a separate test, NHTSA administered a side impact to another 2002 Kia Sedona in a test that is meant to simulate an intersection-type collision. In the test a 3,015-pound barrier moving at 38.5 mph is thrust into a standing vehicle. The barrier is covered with material that has "give" to simulate the front of a vehicle, which would behave in a similar manner during a crash. In both tests, the Sedona was given the highest rating.

“The five-star rating is a great achievement and a tremendous validation of Kia’s engineering expertise,” said Peter M. Butterfield, Kia’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “With the highest safety rating, more standard features and a powerful V6 engine, the Sedona stands out as the best value in the minivan market.”

Since its launch in August 2001, the Sedona has been a hot-selling vehicle for Kia, with more than 15,000 units sold in 2001.

The front-wheel-drive Sedona continues Kia’s tradition of well-built, high-value vehicles by including many features that equal or surpass the class leaders as well as an industry-leading 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. The Sedona features a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 195 horsepower – among the best in class – backed by a sophisticated five-speed automatic transmission, marking the first time a minivan has offered a five-speed automatic.

The Sedona is available in two trim levels, the LX and EX, both offering a long list of standard features. A base LX is priced at $18,995 making it the lowest-priced import minivan, while the EX trim level starts at a base price of $20,995, with a fully-loaded EX topping off at $24,100.

Le poids du vehicule,n'a rien a voir excepter quelle consomme un peu plus,la Kia est la deuxieme minivan la plus rapide derriere la odyssey,le poids est un atout pour la taction dans la neige et sur les routes detremper,le poids ajoute aussi du comfort,et au point de vue handling,la Sedona est aussi competente sinon plus que les autre minivan,si un peu plus de poids me fais sauver de $6000 a $10000,ca me derange pas.Comme je vous l'ais dit,j'ai essayer toute les minivans et la seule minivan qui depasse la SEDONA au point de vue handing et performance,mais pas au point de vu comfort et la finition( la Sedona a un meilleur comfort et a une finition aussi bonne) est la odyssey.

Banzai as-tu deja vue quelqu'un qui partait un topic sur les forums auto pôur dire que sa voiture allait bien et qu'il l'adorait. moi jamais. tout ca pour te dire que lorsque quelqu'un a des problemes avec son auto tout le monde la sais car souvent il est en tabar... Mais lorque que cette meme personn n'a pas de probleme et est satisfaite elle ne le **** sur les forums et a tout le monde. en plus souvent les histoire d'horreur que l'on peut lire c'est souvent arrivé a l'oncle du voisin de ma cousine. ca passe par 10 personne et c'est souvent déformé.

Saintor,je n'ais pas vu la Sedona dans ton article,La Sedona est un cran plus haut que le reste de la gamme KIA au point de vu Qualiter,et tout les nouveaux modeles qui sortiront apres la Sedona,comme la Sorento, suivront les traces de la Sedona,Peut tu T'imaginer le success que la Sorento aura.En europe ,ont dit qu'elle competitionne avec la serie M de mercedes.

J'aime beaucouop cette section de L'article de Edmunds,ca prouve aussi que j'avais raison,en parlant de la performance de la SEDONA.

The Sedona drives like a Honda Odyssey. Wait now, before we get too overheated about this, let's qualify that. The delivery of power feels as good as or better than an Odyssey. Step on the gas pedal and you get an immediate response. Mid-range acceleration is also first-rate. The news on the handling isn't as good, as it is a bit wallowy and soft — like the Honda — but that isn't necessarily a bad thing in a minivan that is made to eat up the highway miles painlessly.

The comparisons to the Odyssey end with the performance and handling. The Sedona's interior is attractive and comfortable (power adjustable leather seats on a $23,000 van!) with a collapsible center tray that is the height of convenience. But moving rearward, the plaudits end. Backseat headroom is tight and there isn't the feeling of spaciousness that distinguishes the Odyssey. The exterior styling of the Sedona is clean and the chrome door handles are a nice touch. Overall, it looks a bit like the Dodge Caravan.

There is no question that Kia has packed this van chock full of features for this sticker price. What isn't immediately apparent is whether the reliability will compare to the Honda Odyssey. Only time — and Kia's warranty — will answer that question.
