Transport Canada issues latest recalls
Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Honda, DaimlerChrysler, Nissan, Porsche and Cadillac vehicles.
2006 Honda Civic Coupe
Vehicles affected: 2,160
On certain vehicles, the front passenger occupant detection system (ODS) contains a faulty electronic component. As a result, the ODS will not function properly, and will not suppress front passenger airbag deployment when the weight of an infant or small child detected in the front passenger seat. Dealers will replace the ODS unit.
1999-2000 Chrysler Cirrus
1999-2000 Dodge Stratus
1999-2000 Plymouth Breeze
Vehicles affected: 27,000
On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.4-litre engine, the high pressure power steering hose is routed in a high temperature area, which could cause it to age prematurely and develop a leak. Dealers will replace the hose with an updated part that has increased temperature capability.
2003-2006 Nissan Murano
Vehicles affected: 20,994
On certain vehicles, the fuel tank may be punctured by road debris that has been picked up and thrown by the front tires. Dealers will install a shield in front of the fuel tank.
2005-2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S
2005-2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet
Vehicles affected: 291
On certain vehicles, an inadequate weld on the exhaust system could allow the tailpipe to detach. Dealers will replace the tailpipe.
2006 Cadillac STS
Vehicles affected: 189
Certain all-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with a 3.6-litre engine did not have the torque monitoring functions of the electronic throttle control enabled during vehicle assembly. These functions can limit engine speed and torque if unusual engine control module (ECM) hardware or software failures occur. Without these functions enabled, a persistent ECM failure could result in a throttle opening greater than commanded by the driver. Dealers will reprogram the ECM.
