Vancouver, British Columbia - Jeep has announced that it will bring its Wrangler nameplate to Canada, beginning with the all-new 2007 version, announced at the Vancouver International Auto Show. While the Wrangler name has always been used in the U.S., the model is currently known as the TJ in Canada.
The 2007 Wrangler will be offered as the Wrangler X, Wrangler Sahara and Wrangler Rubicon, and features solid axles, removable doors, exposed hinges, a fold-down windshield, and convertible and removable tops. The new model has improved ground clearance, with an approach angle of 44.3 degrees and breakover angle of 25.4 degrees, along with 40.4 departure angle degree for off-road capability. For the first time, Wrangler also offers an electronic-disconnecting front stabilizer bar, for additional wheel travel on tough trails. The Wrangler and Sahara models feature the second-generation Command-Trac NV241 with part-time, two-speed transfer case and 2.72:1 low-range gear range; the Rubicon features an Off-Road Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio, electric front- and rear-axle lockers and 32-inch BF Goodrich off-road tires.
The new Wrangler also features a 3.8-litre V6 engine, replacing the 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder, and comes with a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
