New York, New York - Jeep has unveiled its all-new 2007 Patriot, a compact SUV with 4x4 capability and a new entry-level price point for the Jeep brand. It is based on a concept first introduced at the 2005 International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany and is expected in the marketplace in the fourth quarter of 2006.

The Patriot will be available in three configurations: front-wheel drive, Freedom Drive I (full-time, active four-wheel drive system with Lock mode), and Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package (full-time active four-wheel drive system with low range for Jeep 4x4 Trail Rated capability).
The Trail Rated Patriot sits 2.5 cm higher than the non-rated versions and includes 22.8 cm of ground clearance, 29-degree approach angle, 33-degree departure angle and 23-degree breakover angle; it also has additional body sealing and high-mounted drivetrain vents to support 48 cm water fording capability.
The Patriot features a 2.4-litre 'World Engine' producing 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque, mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission or available continuously variable transmission (CVT). Outside North America, the Patriot will also be available with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with six-speed manual transmission.
Standard side-curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Program, ABS, and electronic roll mitigation are included on all models. Available features include a Boston Acoustics premium sound system with articulating speakers in the liftgate for tailgating parties; a self-recharging removable cargo lamp that can serve as a flashlight; sliding armrest with flip pocket for cell phone or MP3 player; 115-volt outlet; fold-flat passenger front seat; and navigation system.
The Patriot will be built at DaimlerChrysler's newly-refurbished Belvidere, Illinois plant; its engine will be produced at the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance Assembly plant in Dundee, Michigan
