Avec le Sorento, on dirait bien que le but de Kia est d'être plus "haut-de-gamme" par rapport à Hyundai

Kia Motors plans introduction of large-sized super-deluxe sedan "GH" in early 2003 2002-09-10

-A sedan with the highest possible value in combination with grandeur and comfort.
-The car maker plans to display only its brand symbol on the sedan, without the addition of Kia's logo.
-Prizes will be given to those participating in the selection of a name for the new vehicle.

Kia Motors revealed plans on September 9 for the introduction of a super-deluxe sedan in early 2003. The car maker has only released the project name of "GH" for its new sedan, which it says will be produced by top technological prowess. Kia also added that the brand will be selected in consideration of choices made by customers.

"GH" is a super-deluxe sedan being developed by Kia in order to extend the phenomenal popularity it has enjoyed with RVs, such as the Sorrento, Carens-II and Carnival models, into the sedan market.

"GH" is short for Grand Heritage, and indicates a deluxe sedan featuring the highest possible value.

Kia plans to differentiate this vehicle from other lines and indicate a higher brand value, by displaying the sedan's symbol without showing Kia's logo.

The new super-deluxe sedan boasts the highest possible safety protection, being equipped with an active head rest (an automatic-response device to shield the passenger during a rear collision), technology exclusive to Kia in Korea, a personal IC system (automatically controls all equipment when the passenger enters or disembarks), VDC (prevents the car from slippage when turning corners), BAC (activated when braking in an emergency), e-mobilizer (sets the ignition key in motion by deciphering the inset code). Three versions (2,700cc, 3,000cc and 3,500cc) of the new deluxe vehicle will be introduced.

The car maker plans to target successful venture businessmen in their 30s and 40s, as well as CEOs in the age bracket 50+ and professionals with a high income, depending on a modern technique combining art and marketing.

Kia plans to select the new brand's moniker by having online patrons submit their vote from among the names Offirus, Regent and Konzern, through its homepage (www.kia.co.kr) between September 10 and October 9. Prizes will be raffled off to the participants.

Kia marketing officials have promised that the new deluxe sedan will be the focus of all its technological prowess, boasting excellent performance and luxury styling certain to unleash a whirlwind in the large-sized car market.

Kia Motors Plans To Launch New Luxury Sedan In March

SEOUL February 19, 2003; Dow Jones reported that South Korea's Kia Motors Corp. will launch a new luxury sedan, Opirus, in the domestic market in March and plans to export to Europe and the U.S. later this year, said the company in a disclosure to the Korea Stock Exchange Wednesday.

It plans to introduce the model in Europe in June and in the U.S. in October.

Kia Motors aims to sell 35,000 Opirus units in South Korea this year, which would account for 30% of the domestic large-sized automobile market.

The 2003 export target for the new model is set at 25,000 units, Kia said.

Kia Motors is the second largest automobile manufacturer in South Korea and an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Co. (Q.HMC), the country's largest.
