Elantra Touring Hatchback Coming in 2008
Aug 8, 2007
Hyundai has just announced that a successor for the old five-door Elantra GT. The 2009 Elantra Touring, as it's called, is a Caliber-sized five-door hatchback based on the current Elantra sedan.
Like the previous Elantra GT, the new model is chock full of standard goodies, including traction and stability control, ABS with brake-force distribution, six airbags and active head restraints on the front seats. Also like the old car, the Touring will be sprung slightly stiffer and have a faster steering rack than its sedan counterparts. Hyundai is also offering their first integrated USB port, while an aux-in jack and XM radio are standard. Power comes from the existing two-liter Beta engine, with 138 hp and 136 lb-ft of torque.
There's no word on pricing yet, and no official pictures other than a pencil sketch, but that should change soon as Elantra Touring will hit dealerships in less than eight months, debuting in spring 2008 as a 2009 model
Bonne nouvelle..
