Alors que les MK6 sont même pas encore sur le marché, Volkswagen pourrait mettre sur le marché les MK7 tout de suite en 2012. Une autre raison d'attendre avant de changer mon MK4 :) .

According to the guys from AutoExpress, a new model of the Volkswagen Golf will be launched in 2012, two years earlier than planned, perhaps because VW wants to recast what the Golf represents with a return to frugal-yet-sporty motoring.
The Mk VII is rumored to ride on a smaller platform than the MkVI and it will borrow some parts from the Polo, employ lightweight body panels, and get VW’s Twin Drive plug-in diesel hybrid engines.
The Twin Drive, which is three electric motors mated to a 1.5-liter diesel, works on battery power alone at 31 miles-per-hour or below, and doubles the gas mileage of the 2.0-liter TDI. Beyond that, VW is already working on an HCCI engine – a petrol unit that thinks it’s a diesel. By ditching the spark plugs, this blends the fuel efficiency of a diesel with the cleaner emissions and free-revving nature of a petrol.
The fact is that for the first time, VW’s focus will be on fuel efficiency, recyclability and environmental credentials above all else.
